Kindergarten Classes 3 - 4yr olds

This is a fully integrated approach to music education for young children. It takes the young child on a wonderful adventure through, music land, where their sense of pitch and rhythm is developed alongside the training of the inner ear. Basic music concepts such as high & low, loud & soft, fast & slow are introduced , but always within the framework of age appropriate games and activities incorporating the use of percussion instruments and movement activities.

Junior Music Class: 5-7yr olds

Music nurtures a child's cognitive, emotional, social, language and physical development. Junior Music Class activities include, introduction to percussion instruments, introduction to the Orchestra and its instruments, Singing, Listening, Musical games, Introduction to the “Solfege”, (doh, re, mi )preparation for instrumental studies and notation. Classes are taught by professional Music Educators, trained and specialising in early childhood music and development.

Individual Piano Tuition

Piano is taught on a one to one basis from 7 yrs onwards, depending on each child’s ability.

 

Group Piano Tuition

Group Piano tuition is great fun for the younger learner. This class is available from 6yrs

Rockin Recorders

Recorder is taught in both a group class and on an individual basis.  This is a great introduction to music for the early beginner.

Saxaphone

 Individual tuition available from 12yrs

Theory:

 Full theory / musicianship is incorporated into every individual lesson up to Grade 3, after which a group theory class in compulsory

Choir:

Ashford Academy has regular choir practice once a week and it is open to all students 

Junior & Leaving Cert Classes

 

Group classes for both Junior and Leaving Certificate are available at Ashford Academy.
