Do Re Mi Music & Me 3-4 yrs & 5-7 yrs

This is a fully integrated approach to music education for young children. It takes the younger child on a wonderful adventure through, music land, where their sense of pitch and rhythm is developed alongside the training of the inner ear. Basic music concepts such as high & low, loud & soft, fast & slow are introduced , but always within the framework of age appropriate games and activities incorporating the use of percussion instruments and movement activities.  Music nurtures a child's cognitive, emotional, social, language and physical development. Do Re Mi activities include, introduction to percussion instruments, introduction to the Orchestra and its instruments, Singing, Listening, Musical games, Introduction to the “Solfege”, (do, re, mi )preparation for instrumental studies and notation. Classes are taught by professional Music Educators, trained and specialising in early childhood music and development.

PIANO

Piano is taught from the age of 6 yrs.  Piano may be taken on an individual basis or in a group lesson consisting of 2 students of similar ability.

Keyboard

Keyboard classes are for those who want to learn but do not have alot of time for practice, or for the adult learner that always wanted to play! Contact the Academy for further information

 GUITAR   

Individual and group tuition available from 7 yrs 

 Rock' in Recorders & Wind Instruments

Recorder is taught in both a group class and on an individual basis.  This is a great introduction to music for the early beginner, who can then progress onto the Woodwind or Brass instrument of their choice, Saxaphone, Clarinet, Oboe,

Theory & Musicianship

Full theory / musicianship is incorporated into every individual lesson up to Grade 3, after which a group theory class is compulsory

Choir & Choral

Ashford Academy has a Junior & Senior Choral groups with regular choir practice once a week . Choirs take part in Choral competition and Peace Events.  Our Youth choir took part in a "Sell Out" gig @ The Helix in February of this year, with the Cross Border Orchestra under the direction of Music Maestro Mr Gearoid Grant. The event included over 500 children from the Leinster area and on a National basis over 7000 children took part.

Junior Musical Theatre 7 - 12 yr olds

Junior Musical theatre is fun, fun, fun! Journey into the exciting world of music theatre and beyond.This class promotes self confidence and self expression through team building, creativity and imagination. These classes aim to introduce students to the dynamic world of music theatre and popular song covering areas of Repertoire, Singing Techniques, Voice Projection and Protection, Movement and Performance Techiques. We combine Music, Song and dance along with some dialogue from favourite shows like Oliver, Wizard of Oz, Grease, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You , Bugsy Malone and of course X factor & Glee. The only limit is your imagination! This is a group class with limited numbers so don't delay if you are interesed in this one as it fills up very quickly.

Musicals & Showtime Classics for Teens - Adults

This incorpartes some of you favourite songs from both screen and stage. Here you will learn all about singing for enjoyment, Repertoire, Singing Techiques, Breathe Control,Phonetics, Aural Training, Harmony ,Pitch Voice Projection and Protection along with Performance Techniques. We combine Music ,Song and dance along with dialogue from favourite shows and classics such as, Oklahoma, Annie Get Your Gun, HMS Pinafore , Mamma Mia, Cats, We Will Rock You . At the end of this programme in the Academic Year, the Academy presents their own stage performace. 

Junior & Leaving Cert Classes 

Group classes for both Junior and Leaving Certificate are available at Ashford Academy, class numbers are restriced do for further information please contact the school for availability.  Grinds are also available on a one to one basis.
